Health Benefits of Green Tea
Many are the health
benefits that have been attributed to green
tea.
One of the most commented benefit of green
tea is its alleged capability to prevent
cancer, because studies have proved that patients
with high risk are less likely to develop
cancer.
This happens because green tea has some
substance that can destroy cancer cells without harming
the surrounding tissues or cells. Such substance is
called EGCG which stands for epigallocatechin
gallate.
However, green tea got enormous fame as it
became popular to loose weight.
This benefit of green tea is well known and
it is possible because green tea increase the energy
expenditure of the body by increasing metabolism,
resulting in 4% more energy expenditure which at the end
is fat consumption.
Other known benefit of green tea is its
capability to low down cholesterol levels. This attribute
was discovered after the result of a study made in
China using a large group of people with high
cholesterol levels. These people were placed on a green
tea diet of seven cups of green tea or its equivalent in
capsules.
After three months, people dropped their
cholesterol levels up to sixteen percent compared with
the levels previous to the diet.
One additional benefit of green tea is its
ability to prevent obesity, as the catechin polyphenols
present in green tea can delay the reaction of some
enzymes which are responsible for converting calories
into fats. By delaying these enzymes, fat is deterred
from being created and stored in the body, reducing the
incidence of fat within green tea consumers.
The caffeine levels of green tea are enough
to become an appetite suppressant, while such levels are
not so strong to become a health issue.
Finally, the latest benefit that has been
attributed to green tea is the possibility to reduce
blood sugar levels, as it has been proved experimentally
in humans.
As described above, the health benefits of
green tea are important and incredible, not only because
they are several but because of the health problems that
they attack or prevent.
There are not proven ways to prevent cancer
and while green tea is not a confirmed prophylactic, it
is a great hope to deter this illness.
On the other site, if blood sugar levels can
be reduced or they can be equalized as studies have
proved the benefits of green tea are good enough to try
it.
Regardless if green tea can really help with
all these health issues, the importance of them in human
health, worth drinking green tea.
